How to Report Incidents
(Boulder Only)


1. General Information


a. To contact the DOC Police for a non-emergency, dial x.3530 (outside line or cell phone call 303-497-3530). DOC Police emergency dial x.7777 (outside line or cell phone call 303-497-7777) and medical/fire emergencies dial 911 then dial x.7777 (outside line or cell phone call 303-497-7777).
1) During normal business hours, the Dispatch is the central communications and dispatch office for the DOC Police on duty and is manned by personnel to answer your calls unless there has been an emergency.
b. DOC Police Officers are authorized and required to conduct investigative stops of anyone leaving DOC facility buildings and grounds that are in possession of packages or materials when such possessions or actions raise reasonable suspicion that a crime is being or has been committed.

c. DOC Police will - dial x.3530 (outside line or cell phone call 303-497-3530):
  • Jumpstart your vehicle.
  • Provide an escort on site.
  • Will unlock office doors.
d. DOC Police will not:
  • Jimmy your vehicle; however will call a lock smith of your choice and you are responsible for the bill.

2. Reporting Incidents

a. The following is a list of incidents occurring on DOC property that must be reported to the DOC Police as soon as possible. When reporting these activities or persons, be sure to give as much information as possible including their location and a complete description and stay calm.
b. This includes but is not limited to any of the following that has occurred on DOC property.
- All assaults, whether threatened or actually carried out.
- Disturbances by an employee, guest researchers, contractor employees, contractors.
- You have knowledge of the questionable death of an employee, guest researchers, contractor employees, contractors.
- Someone has stolen personal or government property.
- Any vandalism done to private or government property.
- People who beg for money or food (panhandling).
- Destruction of property (personal or government).
- Threats - verbal, written, or by phone.
- Traffic accidents whether in your personal vehicle or a government vehicle.
- The illegal possession or selling of drugs.
- Anyone under the influence or possessing alcohol (including staff members).

3. Police Emergency and Non Emergency


     The difference between the Police and non emergency.
a. When to call  x.7777 (outside line or cell phone call 303-497-7777) for DOC Police Emergency:
1. When a situation is in progress which will caused loss of life, health detriments or property damage.
  • If you know crime is going to happen, call the DOC Police.
  • If you see a crime happening right in front of you, call the DOC Police.
b. When to call x. 3530 (outside line or cell phone call 303-497-3530) for Non Emergency:
1. When a situation already caused loss of life, health detriments or property damage.
  • When someone stole something that belongs to you, and you did not see it, call the Dispatch to report it.
4. Medical/Fire Emergency
a. Medical - Dial 911, then x.7777 (outside line or cell phone call 303-497-7777). Explain the emergency. Tell them that you need an ambulance or immediate medical care is needed. Give location of emloyee along with your name, phone number, building address and office.

b. Fire
- If you see a fire, pull the fire alarm and then you dial 911, then x. 7777 (outside line or cell phone call 303-497-7777). Make sure you stay calm and warn others. Tell them where the fire is located. 

5. Tours
a. For groups of 15 or more people, contact the MRSO.
b. For Foreign National, contact the seminar coordinator or Royce Kiger.


6. Long Term Parking
a. Notify DOC Police and provide the following information and vehicle needs to be parked in North Parking Lot, the furthest lane close to the fence line. You can do this by calling x.3530 (outside line or cell phone call 303-497-3530) and speaking with the on-duty dispatcher. Please give;
- Your name
- Your phone number
- The dates you need to leave the vehicle
- License Plate number
- Vehicle description (make, model, year, color )

7. Duress Alarms
The Duress Alarms are there to help you when you need help. Stay calm and stay by the door as long as you can. DOC Police will be there within minutes.
