Data 2009 2009-02-25 Solubilities of Salicylic Acid in Pure Solvents and Binary Mixtures Containing Cosolvent The solubility of salicylic acid in water, methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate, polyethylene glycol (PEG) 300, and 1,4-dioxane and in various binary solvent mixtures, methanol + water, ethanol + water, ethanol + ethyl acetate, PEG 300 + water, and 1,4-dioxane + water, were determined using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The experimental solubility data were correlated by two local composition models: modified Wilson and nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL) 1. 10.1021/je800475d 54 480-484 1 o-hydroxybenzoic acid C7H6O3 1 Commercial source 1 99.5 3 Stated by supplier 2 methanol CH4O 1 Commercial source 1 99.8 3 Stated by supplier 3 ethanol C2H6O 1 Commercial source 1 99.5 3 Stated by supplier 4 ethyl ethanoate C4H8O2 1 Commercial source 1 99.5 3 Stated by supplier 5 1,4-dioxane C4H8O2 1 Commercial source 1 99 2 Stated by supplier 6 benzene C6H6 1 Commercial source 1 99.5 3 Stated by supplier 7 phosphoric acid H3O4P 1 Commercial source 1 85 2 Stated by supplier 8 water H2O 1 Commercial source 1 Fractional distillation 1 99.9 3 Estimated by the compiler 2 1 1 1 8 1 Principal objective of the work VN TRC 2/19/2009 1 Mole fraction UV-vis detector 1 Liquid Direct value, X 1 Author Liquid Crystal 1 Temperature, K 298.15 5 Author .05 Pressure, kPa 101 3 1 Solvent: Mole fraction 2 Liquid 2 8 1 Author 1 0 0 1 .0003 1 1 .0000186 1 .0903 3 1 .0006 1 1 .0000372 1 .1942 4 1 .0021 2 1 .0001302 1 .3599 4 1 .0113 3 1 .0007006 3 1 1 1 8 1 Principal objective of the work VN TRC 2/19/2009 1 Mole fraction UV-vis detector 1 Liquid Direct value, X 1 Author Author Standard deviation of a single value (unbiased) Liquid Crystal 1 Temperature, K 298.15 5 Author .05 Pressure, kPa 101 3 1 Solvent: Mole fraction 3 Liquid 3 8 1 Author 1 0 0 1 .0003 1 1 .0000186 0 1 1 .0329 3 1 .0004 1 1 .0000248 0 1 1 .0731 3 1 .0007 1 1 .0000434 .0001 1 1 .1179 4 1 .002 2 1 .000124 .0003 1 1 .1707 4 1 .0063 2 1 .0003906 .0006 1 1 .2348 4 1 .0161 3 1 .0009982 .0004 1 1 .2734 4 1 .026 3 1 .001612 .0008 1 1 .2899 4 1 .0294 3 1 .0018228 .001 1 1 .3183 4 1 .0342 3 1 .0021204 .001 1 1 .3665 4 1 .0449 3 1 .0027838 .0009 1 1 .4159 4 1 .0541 3 1 .0033542 .0019 1 1 .4774 4 1 .0666 3 1 .0041292 .0015 1 1 .5487 4 1 .0781 3 1 .0048422 .0012 1 1 .6314 4 1 .0981 3 1 .0060822 .0021 1 1 .7407 4 1 .1178 4 1 .0073036 .0085 1 1 .8457 4 1 .1295 4 1 .008029 .0143 1 1 1 5 1 .145 4 1 .00899 .0004 1 3 1 1 1 4 1 Principal objective of the work VN TRC 2/19/2009 1 Mole fraction UV-vis detector 1 Liquid Direct value, X 1 Author Author Standard deviation of a single value (unbiased) Liquid Crystal 1 Temperature, K 298.15 5 Author .05 Pressure, kPa 101 3 1 Solvent: Mole fraction 3 Liquid 3 4 1 Author 1 0 0 1 .1383 4 1 .0085746 .0081 1 1 .1613 4 1 .1653 4 1 .0102486 .0026 1 1 .2991 4 1 .1767 4 1 .0109554 .008 1 1 .4201 4 1 .181 4 1 .011222 .0011 1 1 .5262 4 1 .1808 4 1 .0112096 .0056 1 1 .6277 4 1 .1839 4 1 .0114018 .0031 1 1 .7134 4 1 .1738 4 1 .0107756 .0069 1 1 .7947 4 1 .1754 4 1 .0108748 .0019 1 1 .8701 4 1 .1616 4 1 .0100192 .0175 1 1 .9389 4 1 .1446 4 1 .0089652 .0049 1 1 1 5 1 .145 4 1 .00899 .0004 1 1 1 5 1 8 1 Principal objective of the work VN TRC 2/19/2009 1 Mole fraction UV-vis detector 1 Liquid Direct value, X 1 Author Author Standard deviation of a single value (unbiased) Liquid Crystal 1 Temperature, K 298.15 5 Author .05 Pressure, kPa 101 3 1 Solvent: Mole fraction 5 Liquid 5 8 1 Author 1 0 0 1 .0003 1 1 .0000186 0 1 1 .0238 3 1 .0008 1 1 .0000496 0 1 1 .0506 3 1 .0018 2 1 .0001116 0 1 1 .0832 3 1 .0066 2 1 .0004092 .0001 1 1 .1246 4 1 .0221 3 1 .0013702 .0011 1 1 .173 4 1 .0436 3 1 .0027032 .0033 1 1 .2394 4 1 .0784 3 1 .0048608 .0013 1 1 .3294 4 1 .1212 4 1 .0075144 .0053 1 1 .4572 4 1 .1616 4 1 .0100192 .016 1 1 .6573 4 1 .2173 4 1 .0134726 .0083 1 1 1 5 1 .261 4 1 .016182 .0114 1
