Data 2009 2009-03-11 Thermodynamic Study of Phenyl Salicylate Solutions in Aprotic Solvents at Different Temperatures Phenyl salicylate is employed as a nervous system depressant as well as an intestinal antiseptic owing to its antibacterial activity upon hydrolysis in the small intestine. Various partial molar quantities, namely, apparent molar volume (V O), partial molar volume (V m), thermal expansion coefficient (R2), and ( Y2V m/ YT2), of phenyl salicylate in aprotic solvents, i.e., acetonitrile, dimethyl sulfoxide, tetrahydrofuran, and 1,4-dioxane, at T ) (293.15 to 313.15) K have been determined. The density and viscosity data were obtained with the help of a vibrating-tube densimeter and viscometer in a concentrarion range of (9.6 E 10-3 to 33.0 E 10-3) mol E kg-1. The viscosity data have been analyzed using the Jones-Dole equation and the derived parameter B has also been interpreted in terms of solute-solvent interactions. 10.1021/je8003595 54 338-341 1 phenyl salycilate C13H10O3 1 Commercial source 1 99 2 Stated by supplier 2 None used 2 acetonitrile C2H3N 1 Commercial source 1 99.5 3 Stated by supplier 2 None used 2 1 1 1 Principal objective of the work KRP TRC 2/13/2009 1 Mass density, kg/m3 Vibrating tube method Liquid Direct value, X 1 Author Liquid Pressure, kPa 101 3 1 Temperature, K 2 Molality, mol/kg 1 Liquid 2 1 313.15 5 2 0 0 1 760.702 6 1 .01 1 313.15 5 2 .0099 2 1 761.351 6 1 .01 1 313.15 5 2 .0132 3 1 761.545 6 1 .01 1 313.15 5 2 .0165 3 1 761.711 6 1 .01 1 313.15 5 2 .0198 3 1 761.849 6 1 .01 1 313.15 5 2 .0231 3 1 762.019 6 1 .01 1 313.15 5 2 .0264 3 1 762.135 6 1 .01 1 313.15 5 2 .033 3 1 762.341 6 1 .01 1 308.15 5 2 0 0 1 766.217 6 1 .01 1 308.15 5 2 .0098 2 1 766.875 6 1 .01 1 308.15 5 2 .0131 3 1 767.071 6 1 .01 1 308.15 5 2 .0164 3 1 767.241 6 1 .01 1 308.15 5 2 .0197 3 1 767.385 6 1 .01 1 308.15 5 2 .023 3 1 767.558 6 1 .01 1 308.15 5 2 .0263 3 1 767.695 6 1 .01 1 308.15 5 2 .0329 3 1 767.859 6 1 .01 1 298.15 5 2 0 0 1 777.099 6 1 .01 1 298.15 5 2 .0097 2 1 777.771 6 1 .01 1 298.15 5 2 .0129 3 1 777.981 6 1 .01 1 298.15 5 2 .0161 3 1 778.151 6 1 .01 1 298.15 5 2 .0194 3 1 778.309 6 1 .01 1 298.15 5 2 .0226 3 1 778.451 6 1 .01 1 298.15 5 2 .0258 3 1 778.609 6 1 .01 1 298.15 5 2 .0323 3 1 778.835 6 1 .01 1 310.15 5 2 0 0 1 763.991 6 1 .01 1 310.15 5 2 .0098 2 1 764.642 6 1 .01 1 310.15 5 2 .0131 3 1 764.835 6 1 .01 1 310.15 5 2 .0164 3 1 765.015 6 1 .01 1 310.15 5 2 .0197 3 1 765.153 6 1 .01 1 310.15 5 2 .023 3 1 765.331 6 1 .01 1 310.15 5 2 .0263 3 1 765.465 6 1 .01 1 310.15 5 2 .0329 3 1 765.629 6 1 .01 1 303.15 5 2 0 0 1 771.674 6 1 .01 1 303.15 5 2 .0097 2 1 772.334 6 1 .01 1 303.15 5 2 .013 3 1 772.545 6 1 .01 1 303.15 5 2 .0162 3 1 772.724 6 1 .01 1 303.15 5 2 .0195 3 1 772.856 6 1 .01 1 303.15 5 2 .0227 3 1 773.025 6 1 .01 1 303.15 5 2 .026 3 1 773.165 6 1 .01 1 303.15 5 2 .0326 3 1 773.351 6 1 .01 1 293.15 5 2 0 0 1 782.499 6 1 .01 1 293.15 5 2 .0096 2 1 783.179 6 1 .01 1 293.15 5 2 .0128 3 1 783.379 6 1 .01 1 293.15 5 2 .016 3 1 783.559 6 1 .01 1 293.15 5 2 .0192 3 1 783.709 6 1 .01 1 293.15 5 2 .0224 3 1 783.871 6 1 .01 1 293.15 5 2 .0257 3 1 784.031 6 1 .01 1 293.15 5 2 .0321 3 1 784.222 6 1 .01 2 1 1 1 Principal objective of the work RDC TRC 3/11/2009 1 Viscosity, Pa*s Capillary tube (Ostwald; Ubbelohde) method Liquid Direct value, X 1 Author Liquid Pressure, kPa 101 3 1 Temperature, K 2 Molality, mol/kg 1 Liquid 2 1 313.15 5 2 .0099 2 1 .0002272 4 1 .000003 1 313.15 5 2 .0132 3 1 .0002274 4 1 .000003 1 313.15 5 2 .0165 3 1 .0002276 4 1 .000003 1 313.15 5 2 .0198 3 1 .0002278 4 1 .000003 1 313.15 5 2 .0231 3 1 .0002279 4 1 .000003 1 313.15 5 2 .0264 3 1 .000228 4 1 .000003 1 313.15 5 2 .033 3 1 .0002282 4 1 .000003 1 308.15 5 2 .0098 2 1 .0002453 4 1 .000003 1 308.15 5 2 .0131 3 1 .0002455 4 1 .000003 1 308.15 5 2 .0164 3 1 .0002457 4 1 .000003 1 308.15 5 2 .0197 3 1 .0002459 4 1 .000003 1 308.15 5 2 .023 3 1 .0002461 4 1 .000003 1 308.15 5 2 .0263 3 1 .0002463 4 1 .000003 1 308.15 5 2 .0329 3 1 .0002466 4 1 .000003 1 298.15 5 2 .0097 2 1 .0002867 4 1 .000003 1 298.15 5 2 .0129 3 1 .0002869 4 1 .000003 1 298.15 5 2 .0161 3 1 .0002871 4 1 .000003 1 298.15 5 2 .0194 3 1 .0002873 4 1 .000003 1 298.15 5 2 .0226 3 1 .0002875 4 1 .000003 1 298.15 5 2 .0258 3 1 .0002876 4 1 .000003 1 298.15 5 2 .0323 3 1 .000288 4 1 .000003 1 310.15 5 2 .0098 2 1 .000238 4 1 .000003 1 310.15 5 2 .0131 3 1 .0002381 4 1 .000003 1 310.15 5 2 .0164 3 1 .0002382 4 1 .000003 1 310.15 5 2 .0197 3 1 .0002384 4 1 .000003 1 310.15 5 2 .023 3 1 .0002385 4 1 .000003 1 310.15 5 2 .0263 3 1 .0002386 4 1 .000003 1 310.15 5 2 .0329 3 1 .0002388 4 1 .000003 1 303.15 5 2 .0097 2 1 .0002649 4 1 .000003 1 303.15 5 2 .013 3 1 .000265 4 1 .000003 1 303.15 5 2 .0162 3 1 .0002652 4 1 .000003 1 303.15 5 2 .0195 3 1 .0002653 4 1 .000003 1 303.15 5 2 .0227 3 1 .0002655 4 1 .000003 1 303.15 5 2 .026 3 1 .0002656 4 1 .000003 1 303.15 5 2 .0326 3 1 .0002659 4 1 .000003 1 293.15 5 2 .0096 2 1 .0003086 4 1 .000003 1 293.15 5 2 .0128 3 1 .0003087 4 1 .000003 1 293.15 5 2 .016 3 1 .0003088 4 1 .000003 1 293.15 5 2 .0192 3 1 .0003091 4 1 .000003 1 293.15 5 2 .0224 3 1 .0003092 4 1 .000003 1 293.15 5 2 .0257 3 1 .0003094 4 1 .000003 1 293.15 5 2 .0321 3 1 .0003097 4 1 .000003
