The Process Separations Group performs basic and applied research on commercial-scale separation processes and technologies, including liquid-liquid extraction, membrane separations, process-scale analytical separations such as adsorption and chromatography, separations based on the novel use of external fields, supercritical fluid extraction, and ultrafiltration; develops state-of-the-art measurement techniques and models to characterize transport processes and other phenomena central to process separations, and provides critically evaluated physicochemical data and models needed to develop more robust and species-specific separation processes on a variety of scales.
