Thermophysical Properties of Hydrogen


The Thermophysical Properties Division is the Nation's reference laboratory for measurements, standards, data, and models for the thermophysical and thermochemical properties of gases, liquids, and solids- - both pure materials and mixtures. There are also programs to provide the rates and mechanisms of chemical reactions in the gas and liquid phases, and information on fluid-based physical processes and systems, including separations, low-temperature refrigeration, and low-temperature heat transfer and flow.

The Division maintains facilities and staff for performing state-of-the-art measurements and modelling of thermophysical properties such as pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) behavior, vapor pressure and phase equilibrium (VLE), heat capacity, speed of sound, viscosity, and thermal conductivity, and actively engages in the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of thermophysical property data.
