EEEL Optoelectronics Division Implements ISO/IEC 17025 Quality System

EEEL Optoelectronics Division has implemented a quality system to satisfy ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. The quality system describes all of the division’s SP-250 calibration services. Shao Yang, Technical Quality Manager, has performed internal audits to verify that the division is in compliance with its system. Lock-down of controlled documentation began on January 1, under the supervision of Sandy Merrill, Document Quality Manager. In addition to specific quality manuals for each SP-250 service, division staff created a template for future service quality manuals to promote uniform standards within the division’s quality system.

The division’s SP-250 calibration services span a broad range of services related to the characterization of detectors for measurements of laser power and energy, spectral responsivity, and detector nonlinearities. The need for improved laser standards and quality systems continues to grow as lasers find their way into more diverse applications. From laser eye surgery to optical lithography, laser metrology has led to improved yield and better in-line process controls, and it continues to play an important role in laser safety.
