Kent Rochford, Acting Director, NIST Boulder Laboratories Kent Rochford is also serving as the Chief Technical Representative for the NIST Boulder Laboratories and Acting Director of the Electronics and Electrical Engineering Laboratory (EEEL). Dr. Rochford holds a Ph.D. in Optical Science from the University of Arizona and has broad experience in optoelectronics metrology. He joined NIST in 1992 as a postdoctoral research associate, and he conducted and led research on measurements and standards for sensing and communications until 2000. After two years of managing an engineering department in a start-up optical communications company working on components for high-performance communication systems, he returned to NIST in 2002.
